10 Reasons You’ll Want to Visit London This Summer…
Considering heading to London? We’ve collated our top ten reasons why London is quite possibly the best city in the world to spend a summer…
London is one of the most diverse cities on the planet – over 300 languages are spoken here and you’ll find incredible food, music, fashion, art and culture from every corner of the world all around the city – making it feel like home, wherever you may have travelled from.
2. Picnics in the park
Nothing says ‘British summer’ quite like a picnic in the park; grab a blanket, a spot of lunch and head for the sunshine. Green Park, Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, Holland Park, and St James’s Park are just a few of our favourite spots and just like London itself; the parks are full of surprises – home to zoos, outdoor theatres, and swimming pools to name just a few. Ravenscourt Park is less than a 20 minute walk away from LAMDA and loved by local residents and visitors alike for its wildlife, tennis and basketball courts, popular tea-house and garden centre.
3. And if the sun doesn’t quite make it out…
Why not take a stroll around one of London’s world-renowned museums or galleries? The British Museum, Natural History Museum and Science Museum are all great places to start. After something a little more arty? Try the National Portrait Gallery or Tate Britain. Added bonus? All of them are free - perfect for any rainy days. With LAMDA perfectly located within walking distance of Exhibition Row, home to the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
4. Travelling across the city can be fun too
Whether it’s the iconic London Underground, our red double-decker busses or black cabs – getting around the city is all part of the fun Don’t quite fancy any of those? One of the best ways to explore the city is on foot…
5. Riverside walks
By taking a long leisurely stroll along the Thames, you’ll pass many iconic London landmarks; Tower Bridge, Shakespeare’s Globe, the London Eye, Houses of Parliament and many more. Here at LAMDA, we’re perfectly situated just a short walk away from the River Thames, meaning when the sun does come out, you can be there in less than 15 minutes.
6. World class theatre
London is home to one of the most diverse theatre scenes in the world. From the glitz, glamour and huge names that grace the boards of the West End, to smaller fringe theatres there really is something for everyone. Contemporary political plays, classic Shakespeare productions and huge musicals can all be found just a stones-throw away from one another. Speaking of world class theatre, we stage a wide range of productions throughout the whole year here at LAMDA, showcasing our graduating actors and technicians. With our stunning newly built Sainsbury Theatre and Carne Studio Theatre, there really isn’t a better time to catch a LAMDA production.

If you’re feeling brave enough to tackle the crowds, Oxford Street, Europe’s favourite shopping destination is the place to go for top high street fashion.
From huge stadiums, the O2 Arena and the historic Brixton Academy, to up-and-coming bands in the bars of Camden there really is something for even the most eclectic of tastes. You’ll also find jazz clubs, legendary concert halls and cool nightclubs dotted across the capital.
9. There’s always something going on…
So really, there’s no reason to ever leave! But if you fancy a couple of days out of the city, you’ve an array of destinations to choose from just a short train ride away. You can be on the beach in Brighton in just over an hour, or, if you’re looking for something a little further afield, you can hop on the Eurostar and be in Paris in under three hours.
10. And last, but by no means least… we’re here!
