LAMDA TO HOLD AUDITIONS IN 11 CITIES THROUGHOUT THE UK & IRELAND
LAMDA will be visiting 11 cities throughout the UK & Ireland to hold auditions for aspiring actors to join our full time-acting courses in 2019.
We are committed to finding the most talented students, regardless of background, educational attainment or financial circumstances. By bringing our audition panel across the country we hope to make applying for drama school more accessible, enabling local budding actors to participate in first-round auditions without the high London travel and accommodation costs.
Auditions will be held in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, Nottingham and Manchester. International auditions will be held in Paris and 7 cities in North America; Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, NYC, Toronto, San Francisco and Seattle. For details of audition dates visit our applications page here.
Bradley Craig successfully auditioned for LAMDA in Newcastle and is currently in his final year of the three year BA (Hons) Professional Acting course. Speaking about what the auditions meant for him, Bradley said: “I come from a working class background so having the opportunity to audition in Newcastle helped make the whole experience more affordable and accessible. With the audition right on my doorstep, I felt so much more comfortable and at home.”
Joshua Eldridge-Smith is currently on the two-year FdA course and auditioned in Liverpool. He added, “I was worried that auditioning regionally might affect my chances of success but LAMDA reassured me that wouldn’t be the case and that the same panel would be leading the auditions around the country. Being able to audition in Liverpool meant that I could take less time off work and I was also felt so much more relaxed and safe being able to stay at home.”
Joanna Read, Principal of LAMDA said: “We love travelling the country to meet and audition potential students. Here at LAMDA, we believe that our student body should represent the diversity of the UK and that financial circumstances should not be a barrier to accessing our training. We know if can be costly travelling to London which is why we are auditioning around the country, so we can ensure anyone with the talent and passion has access to some of the best drama training in the world.”
We offer a means-tested audition waiver scheme which is designed to ensure income is not a barrier to training. Final audition recalls will be held in London, offering the opportunity to visit our West London campus, for which travel bursaries are available.
There is a range of financial support for successful applicants. Maintenance and tuition fee loans are available for eligible UK / EU students who are new to Higher Education and studying an undergraduate course. We also provide additional financial support for approximately one in five students on undergraduate courses, with £340,000 awarded annually in scholarships, bursary and hardship funds.
