Train With Us: Scholarship opportunities for US Students to study at LAMDA

Fulbright-John Wood LAMDA Award

Fulbright Awards offer generous financial support to students for one year of study in the UK. Award funding is intended as a contribution toward tuition fees and general maintenance costs whilst in the UK. Alongside the financial grant, it offers scholars the opportunity to have a transformative cultural and academic experience.

Applications for the 2017 Fulbright-John Wood LAMDA Award in Classical Acting are now being accepted from international students who want to start our one-year MA Classical Acting course in September 2018. Applications for the Award are open now and will close on October 6. You should get your application for the Award in before you apply to LAMDA, where applications open on 2 October. - Read more about the Fulbright application process here.

Marshall Scholarship

Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Up to forty Scholars are selected each year to study at graduate level at a UK institution in any field of study. You can read more about the Marshall Scholarship scheme here.

Miranda Rizzolo,  who graduated from our MA Classical Acting For The Professional Theatre last year was LAMDA’s first Marshall Scholar. Only 3% of university-endorsed applicants secured a Marshall scholarship in 2015 and is widely considered one of the most prestigious scholarships for U.S. citizens.

Miranda commented “I heard about the Marshall Scholarship while researching fellowships and the application process was similar to others I had seen...  I did a first interview to get my university’s endorsement before submitting my application on the national level. Then, a selection committee in each of eight regions across the US chooses finalists for a last round of interviews. I began the application process in August and found out that I had been successful in November, so it all happened pretty quickly.”

With Marshall Scholarship alumni including senior politicians, academics, diplomats, Pulitzer prize winners, screenwriters and one recent Nobel prize winner, LAMDA grad Miranda  is in great company!

Speaking about her time at LAMDA and in London, Miranda said; “I loved it! The history, the culture, the arts, it was all amazing. There’s such a great community of actors and artists in the city, and I really felt like a part of that community while at LAMDA. Plus I got to see so much great theatre!”

Applications for the Marshall Scholarship are now being accepted from US students, who wish to study with us starting in September 2018 but be quick, applications close at 5pm on 2 October. Again, you should get your application for the Scholarship in before you apply to LAMDA, where applications open on 2 October. Read more about the scholarship and apply here.

We wish all applicants the very best of luck!
