The Lights

Written by Howard Korder
Directed by Philip Wilson
Performed in The Sainsbury Theatre

Young couple Fredric and Lillian each experience a dark journey from innocence to experience as they find themselves trapped in the shadows of an urban underworld. When department store clerk Lilian steals a watch for her down-and-out boyfriend, both are sucked into the crime and civic corruption of a city whose structure and society is crumbling. Korder’s exhilarating expressionist nightmare depicts a city haunted by hope, desperation, passion and the ghosts of its past.

An American screenwriter and playwright, Howard Korder’s plays include Boy's Life (which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize) and Search and Destroy. He is co-executive producer and writer for Boardwalk Empire.
