About the exam
Our Introductory qualification is the perfect place to start for anyone new to taking an exam, and is particularly suitable for younger learners looking to develop the confidence to express themselves with clarity.
Diving into fun poems from the likes of Michael Rosen and Valerie Bloom, learners develop the ability to express themselves clearly and build self-confidence as they talk about things they love, like their favourite toy, place or book.
Through conversations and encouragement, learners strengthen their speaking and listening skills, answering questions and using descriptions as they communicate, while also improving their memorisation and ability to recall information.

The exam involves:
- Speaking one set poem from memory
- A short conversation with the examiner, initiated by a favourite toy or object brought into the room by the learner
- Describing how to play a game
