International Student Funding
Funding Options for International Students
Funding options for international students vary depending on your country of residence and personal circumstances. We recommend researching funding opportunities as early as possible and exploring all available options before starting your studies at LAMDA.
The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) provides helpful guidance on funding options that may be available to international students. You should also contact the relevant education department or funding organisations in your home country to find out about any government scholarships, grants or loans available for overseas study.
Funding for students from the USA
LAMDA is approved by the US Department of Education to participate in the US Federal Direct Loan Program. Our Federal School Code is G21086.
Federal Student Aid is available for eligible students studying the following full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses lasting one year or more:
- BA (Hons) Professional Acting
- BA (Hons) Production and Technical Arts
- MFA Professional Acting
- MA / MFA Classical Acting
- MA / MFA Musical Theatre
- MA Directing
If you are starting a degree at LAMDA from the 2026–27 academic year onwards, please be aware that changes to US Federal Student Aid will affect the loans available to students studying outside the USA.
From 1 July 2026:
- Graduate PLUS Loans will no longer be available for new students studying at institutions outside the USA.
- Parent PLUS Loans will be limited to a maximum of $20,000 per dependent student per year for new students studying at institutions outside the USA.
Students (or parents) who already have PLUS Loans may continue under the previous rules during the 2026–27 academic year until the student graduates, or until the end of the 2028–29 academic year, whichever comes first.
For new students, this means that Federal Student Aid may not cover the full cost of studying at LAMDA.

Students receiving US Federal Aid must meet certain attendance and academic progress requirements.

US applicants for the MA Classical Acting for the Professional Theatre may be eligible to apply for the Fulbright–John Wood LAMDA Award, which provides support towards tuition fees and living costs.
This Award provides a full tuition-fee scholarship as well as a living stipend. Applications from students from under-served populations are encouraged. This Award is generously provided through an endowment from the MLDauray Arts Initiative. Applications for this scholarship are made directly to Fulbright, not LAMDA, and open annually in early November for the following academic year. N.B. You must apply to Fulbright before you apply to LAMDA and there is no guarantee of a scholarship from Fulbright even if you are offered a place by LAMDA.
