How to Apply

There are two ways to apply to LAMDA, depending on your course and where you are applying from.

If you’re applying for an undergraduate course or our Foundation in Stage and Screen, you’ll need to apply through UCAS. If you’re a US applicant or applying for a postgraduate course, you can apply directly through the relevant course page on our website.

Members of our Pathways Programme are entitled to an application fee waiver to our Foundation or undergraduate courses, and do not need to apply through UCAS.

The Application Process

  1. Choose your course – Explore our range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses to find the one that’s right for you. Each course page includes information about the course, entry requirements and how to apply.
  2. Start your application – When you’ve chosen a course, visit the course page and click Apply Now. How you apply depends on where you’re applying from. You can save your application and come back to it before submitting it
  3. Submit your application – What happens next depends on the course you’ve applied for. Some courses require an audition, while others require an interview.
    • Acting applicants based in the UK or outside the US will be asked to submit a self-tape as their first-round audition.
    • Applicants based in the US will be invited to attend an in-person first-round audition during our North America Tour.
    • If you’re applying for Production & Technical Arts or Directing, we’ll contact you after you’ve submitted your application with details of your interview.
  4. Attend your next audition – If you’re invited to the next stage:
    • Applicants based in the UK or outside the US may be invited to a second preliminary audition on Zoom and / or a final in-person recall at LAMDA in the spring or summer.
    • Applicants based in the US who are successful at their first-round audition will be invited to a final in-person recall in New York or Los Angeles.
  5. Check your course page – Each course page includes detailed information about the application process, auditions or interviews, entry requirements and what to expect. You’ll also find advice on preparing your application and giving yourself the best chance of success.

What we offer:

All requests are handled confidentially, on a case-by-case basis, by our Disability Coordinator. These requests do not have an impact on the outcome of your interview, audition or training, but instead are in place to support you through the process.

Examples of adjustments include (but aren’t limited to): 

  • Extended time or scheduled breaks 
  • Alternative formats (large-print, specific font, coloured paper, Braille) 
  • Wheelchair-accessible rooms and equipment 
  • Medical alert assistance dogs 
  • Live captioning, and BSL interpreting

On your application form:

If you have any additional need or disability, please describe any adjustments you may need when you submit your application, in the Access Needs section. If you need support in applying, please do not hesitate to get in touch.  

After you have applied:

If your needs change or you prefer to discuss details, email our Disability Coordinator at [email protected] as soon as you can and no later than one week after you receive your audition/interview date. 

Supporting documentation:

A brief note from a medical professional, practitioner or educational setting will be helpful in ensuring you receive the right support.

All information you provide is treated in strict confidence. 

Additional Support:

You may be eligible for an audition fee waiver and application support through our Pathways Programme.

We have a limited number of auditions available for North America in January and February. Applicants are advised to apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Once venues are full no further dates will be scheduled. Venues with availability will remain open until approximately 48 hours before the scheduled dates.

We are returning to North America to host in-person auditions for our BA (Hons) Professional Acting, MFA Professional Acting, MA / MFA Classical Acting and MA / MFA Musical Theatre courses.

If you live in North America, you are eligible for our US in-person auditions.
