About the exam
Mime allows us to communicate without using a single word. Instead, this exam focuses on physical theatre, body language and facial expressions to tell a story through movement.
Through single mimed activities and fully developed scenes, learners work on coordination and control, using physical awareness and precise movements to articulate emotion and characterisation. Learners use their imagination to create their work, expanding their physical theatre skills as they assemble their own scenes.
At the higher grades, learners discover the work of famous mime artists like Charlie Chaplin and Marcel Marceau, and explore the history of one of theatre’s most influential forms of performance, commedia dell’arte.
Exam structure
Learners can either take their exam by themselves (solo) or with a fellow learner (duologue).

Solo: 15 minutes
Duologue: 20 minutes
The exam involves:
- Performing a prepared mime scene using a title provided by LAMDA, detailed in the syllabus
- Answering questions related to their performances
