About the course
Beginning with an introduction to LAMDA Exams, our CPD-accredited Syllabus in Practice courses guide you through the regulations, requirements and assessment criteria of the syllabi. Focus then moves to exploring the delivery of syllabus information and answering key questions you may have on the assessments, as well as providing practical activities and exercises for use in enriching your own classroom.
On the last day, participants will explore learner journeys together and will be encouraged to share their insight and practice with the wider group.
Typically taught across five days, this practical course provides a comprehensive understanding of the syllabi used for our popular Communication subjects. The course will cover the following subjects: Speaking of Verse and Prose, Speaking in Public, Reading for Performance, Solo and Group Introductory, Group Recital and Choral-Speaking.

You don’t need a formal qualification to teach the LAMDA Exams syllabi, but our Syllabus in Practice course provides foundational insight into range of our qualifications, practical guidance to bring into your lessons, and useful support for navigating the syllabi with confidence.
It’s a great first step if you’re just starting out, or an opportunity to take your teaching to the next level if you’re already well-established.
You’ll begin by exploring the history of LAMDA Exams, leading right up to our work today. With its focus on Communication subjects, the course will dive into the specifics of our syllabi, explaining the assessment criteria and exam requirements to help you confidently prepare your learners.
You’ll take away practical and accessible exercises that you can make your own, invigorating your teaching and bringing fresh energy to your lessons. Throughout the course, you’ll also explore the fundamental elements used when preparing learners for their exams, including breathwork, voice and body language.
Our Syllabus in Practice course is led by an expert practitioner, allowing you to test ideas, ask questions and pick up fresh insights. By meeting and working with other teachers, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your network, share learnings, and collaborate with peers from different backgrounds.
During the course, you’ll receive a copy of the full LAMDA syllabi and a delegate handbook for your future reference, plus an annual membership to the Directory of Teachers. At the end of the course, you’ll walk away with a CPD-accreditation and resources you can look back on during your day-to-day work.

The LSPC (LAMDA Syllabus in Practice: Communication) course is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to use the LAMDA Performance syllabus at Entry Level and Level 1.
This includes: Speaking of Verse and Prose, Speaking in Public, Reading for Performance, Solo Introductory, Group Introductory, Group Recital and Choral-Speaking.

Day 2-3
Exploring the Qualifications, Syllabus Specification, Navigating the Assessment Criteria, Practical Exercises for Learner Enrichment
Day 4-5
Learner Journey, Group Discussion and Informal Presentation
You should have a level of English that is approximately IELTS 6.0. Although English language tests aren’t mandatory, we recommend that if you are a non-native English speaker and you do not have IELTS 6.0, then you must have equivalent English language experience.
You do not need any prior experience with teaching LAMDA Exams. We welcome all ranges of experience.

Cancellation received more than 6 weeks before the start date of the course: a full refund (minus 10% nonrefundable deposit)
Cancellation received between 4 and 6 weeks before the start date of the course: a 50% refund (minus the deposit)
Cancellation received 4 weeks or less before the start date of the course: a 25% refund (minus the deposit)
Delegates are advised to insure themselves to cover the loss of any fees in the event of any circumstances such as illness which prevents them from attending the course as LAMDA will not accept any liability for this.
If numbers for a session are low, we may cancel the sessions with 1 weeks’ notice. You will be notified via email and offered a deferral to the next available session, a full refund, or a transfer to a different concurrent session. This is to ensure that every group receives the benefits of group discussion.
