About the course

(Re)Discover the practice of Improvisation with this Actor Refresh evening course, designed for professional actors who would like to deepen and develop their craft.

Improvisation is an unscripted performance practice which incorporates games and exercises designed to free the actor. Its principles can be used to help actors access imagination, truthfulness and instinct. This practical course will cover the basics at a pace suitable for actors with prior acting experience.

You'll leave the course with a selection of techniques which you can incorporate into your personal actor's process.

What will I learn?

  1. You'll learn the 'rules' of improvisation.
  2. You'll learn how to transfer improvisation skills (listening, observation, story building, intention) into work on text and character.

In the day-to-day hustle of being a jobbing actor it is so easy to lose sight of your love of acting, and these courses seek to redress this. Where many workshops aimed at professional actors are industry-focused, taking part in an Actor Refresh course is a radical opportunity to simply act.
