About the course
(Re)Discover LeCoq's technique of the Neutral Mask with this Actor Refresh evening course, designed for professional actors.
Jacques LeCoq was an actor and physical theatre practitioner. His practice of The Neutral Mask is a tool to help actors develop an awareness of space, and puts the actor in a state of readiness to discover and explore. This practical course will cover the basics at a pace suitable for actors with prior acting and voice experience.
"...the Neutral Mask opens the actor to the space around him. It puts him in a state of discovery, of openness, of freedom to receive. It allows him to watch, to hear, to feel, to touch elementary things with the freshness of beginnings.” – Jacques Lecoq
What will I learn?
- You'll discover simplicity in acting and how to develop a genuine sense of ‘play’.
- Cultivate an awareness of the body as an essential tool.
- Practice the concept of neutrality as a state of presence from which all is possible.
- Explore the significance of mask work as a means to enhance the creative potential of professional actors.
“I think I trusted that LAMDA would have courses that were really high quality… They’re experts in what they do, the tutors that they bring in.”
