About the course
Experience life on a Musical Theatre programme with this intro course, designed for anyone who is interested in training as a musical theatre performer.
You’ll participate in classes which reflect a typical timetable on a full-time musical theatre conservatoire course, with skills classes (Acting, Singing, Dance) in the morning, followed by repertoire project rehearsals in the afternoon. The course will culminate in a relaxed, informal sharing of your work. All classes and rehearsals will be led by expert LAMDA musical theatre tutors and directors.
You’ll leave the course with a clear understanding of what it’s like to train as a musical theatre performer at a modern drama conservatoire.

During your time on the course, you will:
- Learn about the role skills classes (Acting, Singing, Dance) play in musical theatre training.
- Understand how to apply what you’ve learnt in skills classes skills to a repertoire rehearsal project.
- Discover if musical theatre training is right for you.

This course is suitable for you whatever your experience of musical theatre. Our expert tutor will adapt to the specific requirements and experience of the cohort, and you can expect to be challenged and supported, whatever your prior experience.
You’ll get the most out of this course if you’re interested in studying musical theatre, or are considering applying to a musical theatre conservatoire programme.
We encourage applications from prospective students of all ages to this course, and we will endeavour to place students in pairs and groups where they’re working with others of a similar age.
This is a mixed level course, meaning participants will have a range of experiences.

This course is for participants aged 16+. Please note there will be learners of all age groups on this course.
In order to train on this course, you should have a level of English that is approximately IELTS 6.0 or equivalent English Language experience.
You can test your level using the Cambridge English Language Assessment or the CEFR’s Self-Assessment Table. B2 Proficiency is roughly equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
