About the show

A group of people sit around a table theorising, categorising and telling stories. Their real purpose is never quite clear, but they continue on, searching for the monstrous.

Part satire, part sacred rite, Annie Baker's play The Antipodes asks what value stories have for a world in crisis. First seen at Signature Theatre, New York, in 2017, the play had its UK premiere at the National Theatre, London, in 2019.

Jack Gogarty (he/him) is an Essex born actor, writer and director. He trained as an actor at Italia Conti and has since gone on to develop his writing and directing skills in multiple productions for stage and screen.

He has been an acting tutor and Head of 2nd Year at Italia Conti for a number of years, and this is his first solo 3rd Year Production at LAMDA.

He coaches in writing, acting skills and improvisation, and specialises in comedy.

He is currently developing a TV Pilot, which he co-wrote and stars in, with a notable production company, as well as developing multiple stage productions he has co-written.

He loves dogs. A lot. And is also a big fan of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

He recently discovered that being an adult is mostly just googling how to do stuff.

Annie Baker's works include Body Awareness (2008), Uncle Vanya (adaptation, 2012), and The Antipodes (2017). Her plays have been produced at the Soho Repertory, Signature Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, Royal Court, National Theatre, numerous regional theatres across the United States, and in over a dozen countries worldwide. She is a resident playwright at the Signature Theatre and a master-artist-in-residence and co-associate chair in the M.F.A. in Playwriting Program at Hunter College of the City University of New York.

Contains strong language, cannibalism, self-harm, sexual assault, blood, knife use, sexism, graphic sexual discussions and discussions of suicide.
