Become a Private Centre

What is a Private Centre?

LAMDA Exams can be taken in a private setting – which includes schools, organisations, or rented venues – in the UK or internationally. Available in-person or through remote online assessments, private centres can create their own exam events, offering a convenient and flexible alternative to public centre exams. Due to this flexibility, this route is especially suitable for teachers entering a number of learners for exams at once, and offers greater flexibility when choosing exam dates.

Benefits

Registering as a private centre has many advantages for schools, clubs and organisations with a considerable number of learners looking to take an exam, including:

  • Flexibility when scheduling exams
  • Arranging for an examiner to visit your venue to conduct exams in-person
  • The option of remote online assessments (ROAs), allowing teachers to choose the format that best suits their learners’ needs
  • Free private centre registration

Requirements

  • For in-person exam sessions, a private centre must be able to provide a suitable examination space for candidates, along with an area for the examiner. The environment should be quiet, appropriate for assessment, and free from interruptions for the duration of each exam.
  • For remote online assessment (ROA) sessions, candidates may take their exams either from home or from a central venue, where they can complete their assessment online via Zoom.

Detailed guidance on online requirements and in-person exam room specifications can be found in the supporting documentation below.

To host a private exam session, centres must have enough learners to meet the applicable minimum fee requirements. Minimum fees vary according to the duration and format of the examination session, as well as the country in which candidates are being assessed.

For exam fees outside the UK, please contact the International Team directly, who will be happy to advise.

Roles Required

To become a private centre, you must appoint a:

  • Centre Coordinator, who oversees the day-to-day operation of LAMDA Exams at the venue, including managing the event from booking to distributing certificates
  • Head of Centre, who is responsible for ensuring all centre requirements are met
  • Finance Contact (optional), who ensures all exam fees are paid in full and on time (where one is not listed, this role will be assigned to the centre coordinator)

We cannot share access to your centre’s ExamTrack or discuss details of your venue, events or learners with any individuals not included on the Centre Registration form.

Once processed, your nominated Centre Coordinator (CC) and Finance Contact will be granted access to ExamTrack, allowing your centre to register learners and book exam sessions. For more information, visit our Using ExamTrack resources.

To register, you must complete the Centre Registration and Centre Agreement Forms. This includes:
