LAMDA announces new alumni-created web series "The L's"

20 November 2025

LAMDA is excited to announce The L’s – a new six-part mockumentary web series created, written and performed by LAMDA alumni, offering a satirical look at what it takes to make it at drama school.

Created and conceived by LAMDA graduate Leo Oliva, alongside a team of LAMDA graduate writers and actors, the bite-sized episodes playfully pull back the curtain at the UK’s oldest drama school and explores the realities, rituals and shared eccentricities of actor training. The series is also directed by theatre maker and writer Toby Clarke.

With sharp writing and affectionate humour, The L’s explores the challenges that go into performing classical works. Set at LAMDA, the series follows a group of acting students from the fictional "L's" course as they rehearse a production of Hamlet, quickly discovering that behind every great performance lies a little chaos, rivalry and unrestrained ambition.

Leo Oliva, LAMDA alumni and creator of The L’s, said:
"Working with LAMDA professionally so soon after graduating has been an incredible honour and opportunity. With the writers’ room and most of the team made up of alumni from the Classical program, it felt like a true continuation of the trust and creative rigor we built together. What meant the most to me was that LAMDA saw beyond my acting. That they were able to see and value my experience as a producer, writer, and storyteller from my years in TV and film, and invested in all of us as professionals, speaks volumes about their belief in the artists they train."

Mark O’Thomas, Principal & CEO, at LAMDA, said:
“It’s been wonderful to see so many of our graduates return to LAMDA for the making of The L’s, a series that perfectly captures the spirit of what it’s like to train at drama school. We’re proud to support Leo and the team, and to share their work with the wider industry.”

The L’s will be released over the span of two weeks, with the first episode launching on Monday 1 December. All six episodes will be available for free on LAMDA’s website and social media channels.
