LAMDA is Proud to Attend Greater Together Los Angeles
LAMDA is delighted to be one of 15 UK universities and 3 conservatoires who have been selected by the British Council to take part in the upcoming Greater Together Los Angeles event.
As part of this week-long event, Study UK is bringing a dynamic, hands-on experience of the UK’s higher education landscape directly to Los Angeles as part of Greater Together Los Angeles, a major international event hosted by the government of the United Kingdom that highlights the creativity and innovation made possible through the United States–United Kingdom relationship.
International study numbers have been rising among US students, with nearly 300,000 Americans studying abroad for academic credit in recent years, according to the latest data from the Institute of International Education. The UK is one of the most popular destinations for US learners. The Study UK Pop-up will anchor the Greater Together LA Education Programming at this event, building on Americans’ growing interest in international education.
On 22 May 2026, Study UK hosts UK Education providers in Los Angeles for a first-of-its-kind LA pop-up offering direct access to UK universities through interactive exhibitions, and masterclasses. From 18 – 22 May, a week-long programme will be led by senior UK government ministers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and education leaders, spotlighting the bold ideas and innovation that emerge from US and UK collaboration. The Pop-up Experience will shine a light on transatlantic academic collaboration as both a pathway for student mobility and a driver of economic growth and global connection.
"Iconic Los Angeles is the perfect stage for the Study UK Pop-up Experience," says Elizabeth Tresnan, Study UK Director at the British Council. “California sends tens of thousands of students abroad each year – many to the UK – and this event offers the globally curious hands-on access to our world-class universities, alumni, and the transformative opportunities of a UK education.”
Nick Holden PhD, LAMDA’s Vice Principal for Education and Research
reinforced the importance of LAMDA’s inclusion at this event. LAMDA holds deep roots across North America, with generations of US students choosing LAMDA for their training. Equally, many LAMDA alumni choose to live and work in the US after graduation. “It's an honour to be collaborating with the British Council, alongside other UK universities and conservatoires, on Greater Together Los Angeles, which recognises LAMDA's enduring relationship with the USA enabled through our sustained partnerships, renowned performing arts training, and esteemed alumni network.”
The Study UK Pop-up Experience takes place on 22 May at the iconic 'The Ebell Los Angeles' from 8am – 4pm. Families, students, and education professionals will get a holistic look at UK higher education thanks to 16 UK universities who will field alumni, professors, and world-leading industry experts across health, technology, and the creative industries. Featuring high-energy symposiums designed to ignite ambition among participants, to pragmatic conversations on how to apply to UK institutions, the Study UK Pop-up Experience will provide tangible insights into what a UK higher education experience can be. LAMDA’s delegation will include a masterclass given by one of the world’s foremost experts on Shakespearean Theatre, Rodney Cottier – Professor of Shakespeare & Early Modern Drama - at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art.
The day culminates with the prestigious Study UK Alumni Awards, an invite-only celebration honouring outstanding international alumni from the U.S.
Attending UK universities include: London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA), Durham University, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Imperial College London, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), Newcastle University, Royal College of Art (RCA), Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), University College London (UCL), University of the Arts London (UAL), University of Bristol, University of Cambridge, University of East London (UEL), University of Glasgow (UofG), University of Southampton, University of York, Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) and UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

It is the largest-ever UK trade mission to the United States. Taking place from 18 – 22 May in Los Angeles, Greater Together LA will convene hundreds of the UK’s and US's most prominent business leaders and decision-makers to explore fresh perspectives, forge meaningful connections, and shape the future of transatlantic collaboration. The week will also include public-facing events and activations to demonstrate how, from unforgettable blockbusters and sporting spectacles to scientific discoveries and technological breakthroughs, collaborations turn bold thinking into global impact.
