Latest releases
- The first series of Playing Gracie Darling, which stars Dame Harriet Walter, began airing on Paramount+ on 14 August.
- Dame Harriet Walter, Patrick Robinson, Sam Alexander and Amber Grappy starred in As You Like It from 15 August – 6 September at the Theatre Royal Bath.
- Benedict Cumberbatch stars in The Roses which was released in cinemas on 29 August.
- Jim Broadbent stars in The Choral, which had its world premiere on 4 September at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, before being released on 7 November.
- Sam Swann stars in Hamlet at Chichester Festival Theatre from 6 September – 4 October.
- Hedda, starring Tom Bateman, had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on 7 September. It will be released on Amazon Prime Video on 29 October.
- Anna Chancellor stars in The Girlfriend which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 10 September.
- The Lady from the Sea at The Bridge Theatre from 10 September – 8 November stars Sadhbha Odufuwa-Bolger.
- Jane Austen’s Emma, which plays at the Theatre Royal Bath from 11 – 20 September before embarking on a UK tour, stars Peter Losasso, India Shaw-Smith and Charlie Norton.
- Harry Hadden-Paton and Arty Froushan star in Downtown Abbey: The Grand Finale, which will be released in cinemas on 12 September.
- Sam Jenkins-Shaw stars in Bacchae at the National Theatre which plays from 13 September – 1 November.
- Douggie McMeekin stars in Measure for Measure from 13 September – 25 October at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-Upon-Avon.
- Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts, which plays at the Birmingham Rep theatre until 14 September, features Lizzie Powell as Lighting Designer.
- A new production of The Herd, written by Rory Kinnear, will run at the Barn Theatre from 19 September – 27 September.
- The UK premiere of Mary Page Marlowe runs at the Old Vic from 23 September – 1 November and stars Gilbert Kyem Jnr.
- Hamlet at the National Theatre stars Alistair Petrie and Hari McKinnon, with Sound Design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite. The show runs from 25 September – 22 November.
- Alexandra Montalbano has written, directed and will star in her new show choke me at the Hen & Chickens from the 26 – 28 of September. Brock Looser is co-directing with Alexandra.
- Eleanor The Great, which stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, will be released in UK cinemas on 26 September.
- Matt Doyle stars in The Great Gatsby in the GS Arts Center in the Gangnam District of Seoul, South Korea until 9 November.
- Lucy Karczewski and Lucy Gray star in Stereophonic at the Duke of York Theatre until 22 November. The show features Heather Knott as Sound No 1.
Things to look forward to
- Samya de Meo, Yaw Osafo-Kantanka, and Roland Royal III star in Tangle Theatre Company’s 2025 UK tour of Julius Caesar which begins in October.
- The documentary The Marbles, featuring Brian Cox, will premiere at the Central Scotland Documentary Festival in October 2025.
- Riot Women, which will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in October, stars Claire Skinner and Amit Shah.
- Rosalind Eleazar stars in the world premiere of Small Hotel at the Theatre Royal Bath, which plays from 3 – 18 October.
- Becoming Meg Dashwood, an Audible Original sequel to Sense And Sensibility will feature Paterson Joseph. It will be released on 6 October.
- Charlie Russell stars in Fanny at The King’s Head Theatre from 10 October – 15 November.
- Capucine Earle brings her play Petit Leópard to the Drayton Arms this month, co-directed by Katherine Lyle and Andrew Friedman.
- Esh Alladi stars in The Unbelievers at The Royal Court Theatre which plays from 10 October – 29 November.
- Toby Stephens, Kyle Ndukuba and Ami Tredrea star in Wendy & Peter Pan at the Barbican Theatre from 21 October – 22 November.
- Pauline Marechal has written and directed her show Wanda's Celebration, which will be performed at the Lambeth Fringe at the Bread and Roses Theatre on the 22 and 25 October.
- The series Down Cemetry Lane stars Ruth Wilson and will be released on Apple TV+ on 29 October.
- The upcoming film 100 Nights of Hero stars Amir El-Masry and will be released later this year.
- Anna Maxwell Martin returns for series two of Ludwig on BBC.
- Harry Melling joins the cast of movie musical Stuffed.
- Chez Joey, co-directed by Tony Goldwyn, will run from 30 January – 15 March 2026 in the Kreeger Theater in Washington, DC.
- Charlotte Riley voices Queen Marlena in Masters of the Universe which will be released in cinemas on 5 June 2026.

- Lucy Karczewski and Hilson Agbangbe have been shortlisted for The Stage Debut Awards 2025 in the Best Performer in a Play category.
- Anna Maxwell Martin has been nominated for Best Actress at the BAFTA Cymru 2025 Awards for the true crime drama Until I Kill You.
- Make It Happen which played at National Theatre of Scotland and starred Brian Cox has been nominated for Best International Show at The List’s Edinburgh Festival awards.
