About the show

Ellen and Rose have arrived from Scotland and set up their tent on a Devonshire cliff top. Down on the beach, they encounter Rob, David, Charlie, Cot and John who are enjoying a surfing break, leading to a day of transformative events. 

Andrew is a Director working across Stage and Screen.

For Stage, he directs new plays and revivals. He has developed/staged new work with companies including Battersea Arts Centre, English Touring Theatre, Headlong and the National Theatre and writers Brad Birch, Chris Bush, Elinor Cook, James Fritz, Rob Hayes, Ross Willis, Samuel Bailey and Simon Longman. He has directed revivals by writers including Gary Owen, Lucy Prebble, Mark Ravenhill, Simon Stephens, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Tim Crouch.

He is Artistic Director of award-winning theatre company, Squint, a graduate of the Birkbeck Theatre Directing MFA, an Associate of the National Youth Theatre and formerly Resident Assistant Director at Leeds Playhouse.

He trains actors in naturalism, screen acting and theatre-making at major drama schools including ArtsEd, Guildhall School Of Music & Drama, the Royal Conservatoire Of Scotland and the Royal Welsh College Of Music & Drama. His practice is influenced by Anne Bogart, Declan Donnellan, John Yorke, Mike Alfreds, Thomas Ostermeier and Told By An Idiot.

He is an experienced Facilitator of education and participation projects, teaching with the National Youth Theatre, working in refugee camps with Good Chance Theatre and running courses in prisons with Synergy Theatre Project.

For Screen, he has made two short films as Writer Director and he is currently developing his debut feature alongside several television projects.

He is an Acting Coach for major film and television projects including Masters Of The Air (Apple TV), Jerk (BBC) and My Father’s Shadow (Element Pictures) with the likes of Anthony Boyle, Austin Butler, Barry Keoghan and Edward Bluemel.

Born in Glasgow, Sharman Macdonald became an actress on graduation from Edinburgh University but gave it up to write. Her plays include When I Was a Girl, I Used to Scream and Shout... (Bush) which won her the Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright of 1984, The Brave (Bush), When We Were Women (National), All Things Nice (Royal Court), Shades (Albery), The Winter Guest (West Yorkshire Playhouse/Almeida), which was adapted into a film with Alan Rickman, Sea Urchins (Dundee Rep), Borders of Paradise (Watford Place), After Juliet (National) and The Girl with Red Hair (Bush/Royal Lyceum). She is the author of two novels, The Beast and Night, Night.

Tickets cost £14, but we have £7 concessions tickets available to Hammersmith & Fulham residents, schools, students, or people who are over 65, under 18 or are on Job Seeker's Allowance. You'll just need to provide proof of your eligibility when you collect your tickets at the Box Office. We offer a complimentary ticket for carers, to book please call the box office on 020 8834 0500. If you belong to our Pathways Programme or work with any of our Pathways Partners you are entitled to complimentary tickets.
