Dr Karen Tomlin
Karen Tomlin is the Course Leader of the Semester Programme in Classical Acting.
She has worked as a Theatre Practitioner and Artist for over twenty five years. She initially trained as an actor, studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and working for theatre companies such as The Globe and The National Theatre. As a theatre director she has worked with Paines Plough, Clean Break, The Gate, Ovalhouse Theatre and the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
She has extensive experience working within actor training conservatoires, including the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Arts Ed, Rose Bruford College, the Royal Academy of Drama Art (RADA), and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
She is a qualified teacher in Post Compulsory Education (University College London, Institute of Education) and has a Masters in Applied Theatre from (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama). She has a Doctorate from Queen Mary University of London in Black British Female Theatre Directors.
