About the show

It's Cabaret, we've got our heads down and we're dancing and drinking as fast as we can. The enemy is on its way, but this time it doesn't have guns and gas it has storms and earthquakes, fire and brimstone...You were the glimmer. At the end of the tunnel. And you went out. An all-pervasive fear of the future and a guilty pleasure in the excesses of the present drive.

It is a fast and furious metropolitan crash of people, scenes and decades, as three sisters attempt to navigate their dislocated lives and loves, while their dysfunctional father, a brilliant scientist, predicts global catastrophe.

Nicky is a freelance director, dramaturg and writer working across stage and screen, with a strong track record in both contemporary new writing and classic adaptations. Alongside her theatre practice, she is increasingly directing for television and developing original scripts and screenplays.

Her directing credits include award-winning revivals such as The Shape of Things,
by Neil LaBute at Park Theatre (finalist, What’s On Stage Award for Best Production Off-West End 2023), David Eldridge’s Market Boy, and Enda Walsh’s The Walworth Farce, which she was invited to direct as the inaugural production for the new Southwark Playhouse Elephant in 2023.

Nicky is also an experienced associate director and facilitator of new-writing R&D. She was Staff Director at the National Theatre on Melly Still’s My Brilliant Friend, Associate Director to Jeremy Herrin on David Ireland’s Ulster American at Riverside Studios, and is currently working with Katy Rudd on the West End transfer of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry for Chris Harper Productions, which is now playing at the Haymarket Theatre.

As a writer, Nicky adapted Henry IV, Henry V and Henry VI into a two-act epic,
Summon Up the Blood, for the RSC Open Stages programme, now available for schools and drama schools. She's currently writing an original television series and will make her short-film directing debut with Sour & Sweet in 2026.
