About the show

An ageing king makes a capricious decision to divide his realm among his three daughters according to the love they express for him. When the youngest daughter refuses to take part in this charade, she is banished, leaving the king dependent on her manipulative and untrustworthy sisters. In the scheming and recriminations that follow, not only does the king's own sanity crumble, but the stability of the realm itself is also threatened.

Trained at LAMDA as an actor, John has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, Shared Experience, Theatre de Complicité, David Glass Ensemble, the Almeida Theatre, the Gate Theatre, and the Young Vic, as well as in the West End and in television and film.

As a director he has worked for the Royal Opera, Queens Theatre, Hornchurch, the Royal Court and the Bridewell, among others and has led workshops in Paris, Hong Kong, at Epidauros, RADA and for the National Youth Theatre. He has also directed final shows at RADA, LAMDA, Boston University, Mountview Academy and East 15.

John also has an ongoing directing relationship with Welsh National Opera.
