About the workshop & practitioner
Join internationally acclaimed physical theatre company Gecko for a special weekend residency to dive into their unique, visceral and poetic style and explore how they devise and create movement and tell stories.
Led by Gecko’s highly experienced devising performers, our Residencies are a practical and engaging exploration of the processes and performance techniques we use when creating a show. They are the perfect opportunity to experience first-hand the tools used by the company to devise and create our productions.
Through preparation, ensemble building, serious play, simple beginnings and highly physical, dynamic tasks and activities, we focus on methods for creating movement for performance. We delve into the use of breath and language to express, and open doors to accessing emotional spaces safely. Participants will be nurtured and challenged in their artistic decision-making, and will move, have fun, express, and connect with themselves and others through creative discovery.

Who's it for?
This workshop is suitable for students of theatre, drama, dance, movement, choreography, multidisciplinary arts or those who have graduated within the last three years, interested in deepening their devising knowledge and experience. For participants aged 18+.

The concession ticket prices are for full-time students, unwaged, over 65s, BECTU/MU & Equity cardholders.
The LAMDA student discount applies to current students.
Cancellations received up to 14 days before commencement of the course will receive a full refund.
Cancellations received 7-14 days before commencement of the course will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations received after 7 days before commencement of the course will not be eligible for a refund, unless your place can been re-sold to another participant.
Should you become unable to participate in the course due to sickness (e.g. Covid), a full refund would be payable on production of official proof of a positive result in the case of Covid, or a medical certificate. This refund would be pro-rated if you have already completed part of the course.
