Alumni News: August edition

Latest releases

• Ned Costello and Saroja-Lily Ratnavel were amongst the writers whose work was performed at Kiln Theatre on 26 and 28 July as part of the Listen Local programme.
• On 29 July, Aoife Kennan starred in Closed Sky at Omnibus Theatre, part of Art Translated’s Plays from Across A Divided Europe.
• Beth Woodford is currently working as Audio Operations Specialist with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership in Canada.
• In Camera, starring Amir El-Masry, premiered in July at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. The date for its wider release is to be announced.
• The second part of The Witcher season 3, starring MyAnna Buring and Anya Chalotra, is now streaming on Netflix.
• Wolf, starring Iwan Rheon and Emma Cooney, begins on BBC One on 31 July, and will be available for streaming after on BBC iPlayer.
• Thom Petty features in the new season of Breeders, showing on Hulu in the US from 31 July before arriving in the UK on Sky from October.
• Athens of The North, written and performed by Mark Hannah, is showing at Riverside Studios on 1 and 2 August ahead of its run at Edinburgh Fringe from 16 – 19 August.
• Tingying Dong is Co-Sound Designer for Kathy and Stella Solve A Murder, showing at Underbelly at the Fringe from 2 – 27 August, followed by performances in Bristol and Manchester from September.
• Charlie Merriman’s Wonder Drug: A Comedy About Cystic Fibrosis is playing at the Fringe from 2 – 28 August.
• Adam Scott Riley features in You Are Going to Die, showing at Edinburgh Fringe from 2 – 27 August.
• Chaya Gupta is starring from 3 – 27 August in the Edinburgh Fringe production of We'll Have Nun of It.
• From 2 – 27 August, Ell Potter stars in The Last Show Before We Die at Edinburgh Fringe.
• Tom Claxton is starring in the Fringe production of A Manchester Anthem from 2 – 27 August.
• Also at Edinburgh Fringe, Sasha Wilson features in The Brief Life & Mysterious Death of Boris III, King of Bulgaria, from 2 – 28 August.
• The Birth of Frankenstein, starring Teryn Gray, plays from 2 – 28 August at the Fringe.
• Rachel Kitts stars in Upstart! at Edinburgh Fringe from 2 – 27 August.
• Heyfever is playing at Edinburgh Fringe from 11 – 26 August, with cast members Feride Morçay, David Abécassis and Brandon Boruch, and Jahmiko Marshall as Lighting Designer.
• At Edinburgh Fringe from 14 – 26 August, Jessica Munna has written and is starring in Pieces of Us, which is directed by Amy Garner Buchanan.
• Caitlyn Calfas stars in IrrePRESSible at Edinburgh Fringe, playing from 14 – 26 August.
• Paved with Gold and Ashes with Caroline Letelier is showing from 14 - 26 August at the Edinburgh Fringe.
• From 24 August - 23 September, Ciarán Owens will star in Farewell Mister Haffmann at Theatre Royal Bath.
• Private Lives, starring Patricia Hodge, will run at the Ambassadors Theatre for 12 weeks from 31 August – 25 November.

Things to look forward to

• The Wheel of Time season 2, starring Dónal Finn, begins streaming on Amazon Prime from 1 September.
• Watch Amit Shah in the trailer for Klokkenluider, which is set to be released on 1 September.
• Patrick Warner will star in Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense at Salisbury Playhouse from 1 – 23 September.
• Next month, Rohan Rakhit stars in the Old Vic’s production of Pygmalion, running from 6 September – 28 October.
• Sky Yang has been cast in upcoming film The Last Days Of John Allen Chau.
• Nadia Parkes is set to star in upcoming BBC factual drama, Kidnapped.
• Production has begun for Call The Midwife series 13, with Megan Cusack returning for the new episodes.
• It's Headed Straight Towards Us, co-written by Nigel Planer, is showing at Park Theatre from 13 September.
• From 23 September – 28 October, Matt Doyle will play Frank Sinatra in Birmingham Rep’s world premiere of Sinatra the Musical.
• Yasmine Haller and Will Bishop star in Sorry We Didn't Die at Sea at Park Theatre from 13 – 30 September. 
• The fourth and final season of Sex Education, featuring Imani Yahshua and Alistair Petrie, arrives on Netflix on 21 September.
• Saroja-Lily Ratnavel and Garmon Rhys are amongst the cast of The Hypochondriac, playing at Sheffield Theatre from 30 September – 21 October.
• Dominique Hamilton is providing Hair & Make-Up for the Yard Theatre’s production of The Flea, showing from 11 October - 18 November.
• Robert Emms has joined the second series of the BBC’s Sherwood, which is now filming.
• David Suchet’s Poirot and More, A Retrospective is embarking on a new UK tour next year, beginning in January 2024 in Cheltenham.
• Rebecca Frecknall’s Cabaret is set to open on Broadway from Spring 2024.

• At the Emmy Awards, Harriet Walter has been nominated 'Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series' (for Ted Lasso) and 'Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series' (for Succession).
