Alumni News: July Edition

Here are just a few highlights of where you can catch our alumni this month.

Latest Releases  

  • Benedict Cumberbatch features in Madonna’s new visual album, Confessions II, which was released on 8 June.  
  • Miraculous, which played at the King's Head Theatre from 16 – 20 June, featured an array of LAMDA alumni including Luke Stiles, Diego Zozaya, Brock Looser, Maia Thompson, Jon Aaron and Antony Lam. 
  • Abubakar Salim returns for season three of House of the Dragon on HBO and Sky Atlantic which premiered on 21 June. 
  • The documentary How to Live on Earth, which is presented by Benedict Cumberbatch, was released in selected cinemas on 26 June before being released globally on YouTube this September.  
  • From 28 – 30 June, Buonarroti played at The Hope Theatre and featured the work of Austin Daly, Katie Luchtenburg, Violet Morris, Elise Piliponis and Joey Williams. 
  • Persona, featuring Max Allen, Cameron Forrest, Elliott Diner and Leo Oliva, played at The King’s Head theatre on 29 and 30 June before it travels to the Edinburgh Fringe at Studio at theSpaceTriplex from 17 – 29 August.   
  • Season three of Silo starring Dame Harriet Walter premiered on 3 July on AppleTV+. 
  • Learning to Breathe Under Water starring Rory Kinnear had its world premiere at Karlovy Vary Film Festival which took place from 3 – 11 July.  
  • On 5 July, Anoushka Cowan and Elijah Lifton hosted The Marigold Session — An Evening of Jazz & Cabaret which featured Leo Oliva, Alex Makar, Elle Davies and Jazz Jenkins
  • Allegra starring Maureen Lipman plays at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 8 July – 8 August. 
  • Season five of Trying on AppleTV+ premiered on 8 July and features Charlotte Riley. 
  • A rehearsed reading of revolution written by Abigail Devine took place on 11 July at The Hope Theatre.  
  • Toby Stephens stars in Equus at the Theatre Royal Bath from 13 – 25 July. 
  • A Story About Love starring Pauline Marechal plays at the Golden Goose Theatre on 14 July, and at the Canal Café Theatre on 25 and 26 August. 
  • Metamorphoses: Based on the Myths of Ovid plays from 16 – 17 July at the Hammersmith Club Venue. Their cast and crew feature a host of LAMDA graduates including Brandon Jewel, Harry Pritchard, Shannon Smith, Cameron Quinn Chavers, Abigail Devine, Rachael Dowsett, Austin Evans, Andrew Friedman, Lucy Krubiner, Eileen MacDonald, Justin Stirewalt, Max C. Younger, Antony Lam and Cheri McKenzie.  
  • Anna Maxwell Martin joins Netflix’s Heartstopper series which will be released on 17 July.  
  • Matt Doyle stars in Hello, Dolly! until 18 July at the Ogunquit Playhouse. 
  • Mischief Theatre’s first musical comedy Thespians tours the UK until 18 July. 
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor is Executive Producer for the stage adaption of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. The show plays at Soho Place until 18 July and stars Alistair Nwachukwu.    
  • Pearls Recommended written by Anna Johnston premieres at the Drayton Arms Theatre on 21 and 22 July. The show also features Drew Cleveland and Violet Morris. 
  • Bailey Edwards’ show Play Dead performs at the Camden Fringe on 24 July before heading to the Underbelly Cowgate (Edinburgh Fringe) from 5 – 30 August. 
  •  Richard Armitage stars in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palladium from 27 July – 1 August. 
  • 1536 starring Saroja-Lily Ratnavel plays at the Ambassadors Theatre until 1 August and features Tingying Dong as Sound Designer/Composer.  
  • Mostyn Crawford stars in The Lord Chamberlain's Men UK tour of Othello until 12 September. 
  • Haonan Wang has been selected as a Director Collaborator for the British Youth Opera Summer Programme 2026. From July to August, Haonan will be assisting on The Rake’s Progress at Battersea Arts Centre, which then plays from 12 – 21 August. 

Things to look forward to

  • The Late Utopians, which plays at the Iron Belly (Edinburgh Fringe) from 5 – 15 August, is written and directed by Alfie Jones, and stars Lilly Walker. 
  • Broke and Fabulous in the 21st Century featuring Olive McHugh, Kat Parry, Anaya Abdullah and Velia De Nicola plays at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh from 5 – 31 August.  
  • Out There, starring Iwan Rheon, will have its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 14 August. 
  • Alistair Petrie stars in A Month in the Country at The Donmar Warehouse from 22 August – 3 October. 
  • Graduate Scenes Sharing in the John Wood Studio at LAMDA on 25 and 26 August showcases the talents of Mariama Mansary, Samya De Meo, Oliver Graham, Beko Wood, Stella Saltibus, Rẹmi Shorunke-Samuel, James Walsh, Emily Hayman, Natalia May, Dilip Kumar and Emily Tidey. 
  • Bad Apples starring Robert Emms will be released theatrically in the UK and Ireland on 18 September.  
  • Rory Kinnear to star in The Standard of Living at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 21 September – 12 December. 
  • The Love Hypothesis starring Tom Bateman will be released on Netflix on 23 September.  
  • The Other Bennet Sister, starring Dónal Finn and Laurie Davidson, returns to the BBC this December for a three-part Christmas special. 
  • Katherine Parkinson returns for series four of Here We Go on BBC. 
  • Jim Broadbent joins the cast of season six of Only Murders in the Building.  
  • The upcoming horror film Shed stars Taylor Novak.

  • On 17 June at the 34th Raindance Film Festival’s Opening Gala, Brian Cox was presented with the 2026 Raindance Icon Award.
