Alumni news: September

Here are just a few highlights of where you can catch our alumni this month.

What’s new this month   

  • Aoife Kennan is starring in new immersive digital show C-o-n-t-a-c-t, now running in London. Find out more here.  

  • Callum Woodhouse stars in All Creatures Great and Small, now airing on Channel 5.  

  • Abubakar Salim stars in new HBO Max TV series Raised by Wolves, released on 3 September. You can also listen out for him as the narrator of upcoming game Animal Farm later this autumn. 

  • Maureen Lipman is starring in an online production of Rose by Martin Sherman. I will be streamed from 10-12 September on the Hope Mill Theatre’s website.  

  • On 12 September Don’t Let Go will be released on NOW TV and Sky Cinema starring David Oyelowo.  

  • Harry Melling stars in The Devil All The Time released on Netflix on 16 September. 

  • Natasha Chivers is lighting designer for English National Opera’s La Bohème, the world’s first live drive-in opera. Performances begin on 19 September.  

  • Esh Alladi will appear in Theatrical Digs at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on 19 September. 

  • Don’t miss Sam Alexander, Scarlett Courtney and Esme Scarborough in BBC Radio 4 Madam, Will You Talk? Available to listen until 22 September. 

  • Sam Claflin stars in Enola Holmes, which airs on Netflix 23 September. 

  • Joseph Quinn stars in Strike Lethal White, now airing on BBC One.  

  • Megan Shandley performed some stand-up comedy as part of the Edinburgh free Fringe Fest. Watch the performance here.  

  • Amit Shah stars in Watching Rosie as part of Original Theatre Online available to watch on their website until 30 September.  

  • Mischief Theatre are taking Movie Night on a UK tour. The show will be heading to Cornwall, Brighton and Guildford this month.  

  • Sam Stafford directed and co-produced new audio drama Screwed. It stars fellow graduate Henry Knott and can be streamed on SoundCloud

  • Jason Flemyng narrates The More Than My Past podcast. Listen to it here

  • Jonathan Reid-Edwards has directed The Good Neighbour, now available on Amazon Prime Video.  

  • Rosalind Eleazar and Hugh Skinner star in Harlots available to stream on BBC iPlayer.   

  • Sky Yang, one of our BA Hons graduating actors has released his new short film SUNNY on Vimeo with music by Oliver Norman. Click here to watch.  

  • Final year MFA actor Rose Basista recorded short story Her First Ball as part of BBC Radio Drama’s And Other Stories: Katherine Mansfield. Part 2. Listen to it here.  

  • LAMDA Exams alum Robert Kodama has launched The New Works Playhouse, a theatre organisation aiming to showcase new talent and new writing around the world. Visit their website to find out more.  

  • Watch Miss India America on Amazon Prime or Apple TV, co-written by alum Meera Simhan.

  • Catch Benito Martinez in season 3 of 13 Reasons Why, full series available to stream on Netflix.

  • PTASS graduate Tingying Dong is one of the founding members of emerging theatre company Out of the Blue. Follow them on Twitter here and look out for details of their first show.  

  • Ruth Wilson has been announced as a judge for the 2020 Popcorn Award for new playwriting. You can also catch her in Season 2 of His Dark Materials which has been announced to air this November. 

  • Theatre company and LAMDA alumni the Wet Mariners were interviewed by The Guardian about their return to theatre. Read it here.  

  • Amazon Prime Video has launched Mischief Theatre’s The Goes Wrong Show. It is now available to watch across the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. 

  • Blu del Barrio has been announced as Star Trek: Discovery’s first-ever non-binary character. This marks their screen acting debut.
     
  • LAMDA’s Artistic Director Sarah Frankcom will be part of the judging committee for the inaugural Women’s Prize for Playwrighting this autumn.  
  • Season 3 of Sex Education has been announced, with Alistair Petrie reprising his role as Headmaster Groff.
