LAMDA Supports School Arts Week

19 August 2025

This summer, we were proud to support School Arts Week, organised by Hammersmith & Fulham’s Cultural Compact to bring arts opportunities to local schools.

The initiative saw a week of free creative arts workshops in schools across the borough, with more than 750 young people taking part.

Teachers chose from a variety of subjects offered by local creatives and cultural organisations. LAMDA worked with the Primary Shakespeare Company to facilitate energetic workshops celebrating Shakespeare.

Local MP Ben Coleman visited the students at All Saints Primary School to join one of the Shakespeare workshops, as the children we given characters, explored the plot, and acted our scenes from Shakespeare's work.

Cllr Sharon Holder, Mayor of H&F, said:

“It's fantastic to hear how popular these workshops have been. Giving children the chance to be creative and experience different art and cultures is really important and is part of our work to make H&F a stronger, safer and kinder borough."

The Cultural Compact is a partnership of 14 arts and cultural leaders collaborating to deliver the Borough’s Where Culture Connects strategy.

The Compact addresses the need to connect through culture, with a focus on the role of the local arts sector in supporting children and young people. The Compact’s partners include the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Amici Dance Theatre Company, DanceWest, Idea Project Design, LAMDA, Olympia, Turtle Key Arts and White City Theatre Project.
