John Owen CMG MBE DL

John’s career covers two years in the Army, seven years in industry and thirty years in the Diplomatic Service. His last overseas appointment before retiring from the Diplomatic Service in 1999 was as Governor of the Cayman Islands.

John is now Chairman of Auto Port North America Inc., Chairman of Iceman Capital Ltd, Director of Queensgate Bank and Trust Co. Ltd. He is also Chairman of the Friends of Cayman, Trustee of the Cayman Islands National Recovery Fund, a Trustee of the Fidelity UK Foundation and the Fidelity International Foundation, a Founding Member of the UK/China Business Leaders Club and Chairman of the Isle of Wight Business Ambassadors. He was Chairman of the Isle of Wight Strategic Partnership from 2006 to 2008, Chairman of Fidelity China Special Situations PLC from 2010 to 2016 and Chairman of the Board of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, Tourism and Industry from 2012 to 2015. 

In 1979 John was made MBE and in 1998 he was awarded CMG. He is a Freeman of the City of London and a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Loriners. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management, and of the Institute of Directors. In 2006 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the University of Aberystwyth. In 2007 he was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Isle of Wight.
