Alumni News: August Edition

Latest releases
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps was released in cinemas on 25 July and stars Joseph Quinn.
- Katherine Parkinson returns for the third series of Here We Go on BBC, which began on 25 July.
- The series Unforgivable, which began on BBC on 25 July stars Anna Maxwell Martin.
- Matt Doyle stars in The Great Gatsby in the GS Arts Center in the Gangnam District of Seoul, South Korea, from 1 August – 9 November.
- Hugh Coles stars in the Netflix film My Oxford Year which was released on 1 August.
- John Lithgow starred in Giant at the Royal Court until 2 August, with Sound Design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.
- The eight part series The Count of Monte Cristo starring Sam Claflin began on U and U&DRAMA on 2 August.
- Jeremy Irvine stars in the series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which premiered on 8 August.
- My Mother's Wedding, starring Emily Beecham, was released in the United States on 8 August
- Arsema Thomas starred in Poor Clare at Orange Tree Theatre until 9 August.
- Stephan Boyce stars in the world premiere of The Boy With Wings. The show will run in Polka’s main theatre until 16 August, before transferring to Birmingham Rep from 21 – 30 August.
- Series two of 007: Road To A Million, which is hosted by Brian Cox, is set to air on Amazon Prime from 22 August.
- David Moorst and Hilson Agbagbe star in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Bridge Theatre until 23 August.
- The Sing Street Musical, which plays at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre until 23 August, stars Tateyana Arutura. Daniel Miller is Head of Lighting.
- Samuel Barnett appears in a new seven-part audio drama, The President and the Emperor, which will be available mid-August.
- Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts at the Birmingham Rep theatre from 28 August – 14 September features Lizzie Powell as Lighting Designer.
- Lesley Joseph stars in The Addams Family UK tour until 30 August.
Things to look forward to
- Hedda, starring Tom Bateman, will have its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025.
- Jim Broadbent stars in The Choral, which will have its world premiere in September at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, before being released on 7 November.
- Sam Swann stars in Hamlet at Chichester Festival Theatre from 6 September – 4 October.
- The Lady from the Sea at The Bridge Theatre from 10 September – 8 November stars Sadhbha Odufuwa-Bolger.
- Harry Hadden-Paton and Arty Froushan star in Downtown Abbey: The Grand Finale, which will be released in cinemas on 12 September.
- Sam Jenkins-Shaw stars in Bacchae at the National Theatre which plays from 13 September – 1 November.
- Hamlet at the National Theatre stars Alistair Petrie and Hari McKinnon, with Sound Design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite. The show runs from 25 September – 22 November.
- The documentary The Marbles, featuring Brian Cox, will premiere at the Central Scotland Documentary Festival in October 2025.
- Becoming Meg Dashwood, an Audible Original sequel to Sense And Sensibility will feature Paterson Joseph. It will be released on 6 October.
- Wendy & Peter Pan at the Barbican Theatre stars Toby Stephens. The show plays from 21 October – 22 November.
- The series Down Cemetry Lane stars Ruth Wilson and will be released on Apple TV+ on 29 October.
- The upcoming film 100 Nights of Hero stars Amir El-Masry and will be released later this year.
- Beauty and the Beast at the Northern Stage, which plays from 4 December 2025 – 3 January 2026, features Annie May Fletcher as Sound Designer.
- Maureen Lipman will star in series thirteen of BBC's Father Brown which will be released in early 2026.
- Charlotte Riley returns for series two of Smoggie Queens on BBC.
- Tom Bateman and Arty Froushan are set to star in the upcoming film, The Love Hypothesis.
- Netflix’s upcoming adaption of Pride and Prejudice stars Hollie Avery.
