Alumni News: August Edition

Latest Releases   

  • Allegra starring Maureen Lipman played at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 8 July – 8 August. 
  • Niyi Akin stars in Spider-Man: Brand New Day which was released in cinemas on 29 July. 
  • In July, it was announced that Jamie Bamber would be joining the cast of Eastenders on BBC. 
  • 1536 starring Saroja-Lily Ratnavel played at the Ambassadors Theatre until 1 August and featured Tingying Dong as Sound Designer/Composer.   
  • Fluxorama at Riverside Studios Bitesize Festival from 3 – 5 August was directed by Rebeca Romeo, produced by Karinna de Simone and Madeleine Bloxam, and starred Diego Zozaya, Katherine Lyle and Karinna de Simone. 
  • Can I Sit Down Please?, which was first presented at LAMDA's 2026 MishMash festival, was performed as part of Riverside Studios Bitesize Festival on the 6 and 8 August. The show featured Samuel Ferrer, Thelma Solea, Cassie Clark, James Walsh, Mia Stubbings and Amy Shelmerdine
  • Supposing at the Edinburgh Fringe from 6 – 30 August features Lighting Design from Lizzie Powell
  • Too Small To Tell by Lisa Rose played at Riverside Studios Bitesize Festival on the 8 and 9 August. 
  • Haonan Wang has been selected as a Director Collaborator for the British Youth Opera Summer Programme 2026. From July to August, Haonan will be assisting on The Rake’s Progress at Battersea Arts Centre, which then plays from 12 – 21 August. 
  • Sunny Dancer, starring Daniel Quinn-Toye, was released in UK and Irish cinemas on 14 August. 
  • Out There starring Iwan Rheon had its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 14 August. 
  • Emma Haines stars in Who Killed Marilyn? at the Emerald Theatre from 15 August – 29 October.  
  • Richard Armitage starred in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palladium until 15 August. 
  • Alistair Petrie stars in A Month in the Country at The Donmar Warehouse from 22 August – 3 October. 
  • Rebecca Frecknall directs Cleansed at the Almeida Theatre which plays until 29 August. 
  • Season three of Vigil starring Rose Leslie premiers on 30 August on BBC One and iPlayer. 
  • Nikki Amuka-Bird stars in Arcadia at The Old Vic until 12 September. 
  • A Story About Love starring Pauline Marechal plays at the Canal Café Theatre on 25 and 26 August. 
  • Mostyn Crawford stars in The Lord Chamberlain's Men UK tour of Othello until 12 September. 
  • Mischief Theatre’s The Comedy About Spies plays at the Adelphi Theatre until 26 September. 

Things to look forward to 

  • Nigel Sudarkasa stars in the UK tour of Tristan and Yseult from September 2026 – April 2027. 
  • Alex Keenan stars in UK tour of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time which plays from September 2026 – May 2027. 
  • We Dance in Fire starring Saqib Bashir plays at the Golden Goose Theatre from 2 – 5 September. 
  • Natasha Chivers is the Lighting Designer for Thelma & Louise which plays from 3 September – 24 October at the Young Vic. 
  • A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Chichester Festival Theatre from 18 September – 17 October stars Celeste Dodwell, Kieran Taylor Ford, Ellie Larkin and Gavin Rasmussen. The production also features Composer and Sound Designer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite. 
  • Bad Apples starring Robert Emms will be released theatrically in the UK and Ireland on 18 September.   
  • Rory Kinnear to star in The Standard of Living at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 21 September – 12 December.  
  • Dame Harriet Walter and Leah Harvey star in the Royal Shakespeare Company's UK School's tour of Julius Caesar from 21 September – 28 November.  
  • The Love Hypothesis starring Tom Bateman will be released on Netflix on 23 September.   
  • Lizzie Powell is the Lighting Designer for The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie tour which takes place from 2 October – 7 November. 
  • Charlie Russell stars in The Penelopiad at York Theatre Royal from 10 – 31 October. 
  • Harry Redding stars in Twelfth Night at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre from 10 – 31 October.  
  • Meera Simhan stars in Radio Galaxy at The Wallis in Beverly Hills from 6 – 22 November. 
  • Rivals (Series 2, Part 2) will premiere on Disney+ this November, with Katherine Parkinson, Emma Shipp, Gilbert Kyam Jnr. and Brendan Patricks set to return.  
  • The Other Bennet Sister, starring Dónal Finn and Laurie Davidson, returns to the BBC this December for a three-part Christmas special.  
  • Anna Maxwell Martin stars in August: Osage County at the Noël Coward Theatre, which begins performances on 18 January 2027.  
  • Cathal Ó Síocháin to star in the Amazon Prime television series Boys of Tommen, which will be released in 2027. 
  • The upcoming ITV series Winter stars Richard Armitage
  • Tom Bateman to star in Netflix’s new series The Woods.  
  • Dónal Finn reprises his role as James Moriarty for season two of Prime Video’s Young Sherlock.
