About the workshop & practitioner

Kosta Sekulic’s unique Theateruebung training programme is Inspired by J.S.Bach’s term Clavieruebung - piano exercise. His theatre version uses specially devised exercises and improvisation to enhance physical awareness and spatial presence. It’s also a process of developing a structural observation of human behaviour, of simultaneous playing together, in life and on stage.

Participants are invited to tune in and open up. Using rhythm and musical parallels such as melody (the horizontal dimension) and harmony (the vertical dimension) they will learn how to play together, observe behaviour and to create space for their own stories to appear.

Kosta recently initiated a successful yearly Workshop Festival on the shores of Lake Zürich in Switzerland with internationally established guest artists and will be launching a parallel UK edition in Wiltshire in 2023. He trained with Jacques Lecoq in Paris after initially studying medicine. He has taught at Swiss and British drama schools, and given body language seminars with medical students, physiotherapists, and management students. Over the last decade he has focused on exploring the parallels of theatre creation and classical piano music.

Who's it for?

This workshop is for everyone aged 18+. It is particularly aimed at actors, directors and theatre practitioners, as well as musicians, visual artists, students and recent graduates. No previous particular experience is required to join, only an openness and playfulness.
