About the course

Explore how to select, prepare and perform classical monologues with this online course, designed for anyone preparing a classical monologue for drama school auditions. 

Working with an expert LAMDA tutor, you'll learn techniques and approaches to classical text which will demystify the language and support you through your audition process.

You'll leave the course feeling confident in your ability to approach classical monologue preparation with independence and confidence.

This course is suitable for you whatever your experience of acting or performing. You'll get the most out of this course if you're currently  preparing for drama school auditions.

Please note that this course aims to equip students with the skills to work independently on monologue preparation. Sessions are interactive and practical, but you will not be called upon to perform or workshop audition pieces.

We encourage applications from prospective students of all ages to this course, and we will endeavour to place students in pairs and groups where they're working with others of a similar age.

This is a mixed level course, meaning participants will have a range of experiences.

This course is for participants aged 16+. Please note there will be learners of all age groups on this course.

In order to train on this course, you should have a level of English that is approximately IELTS 6.0 or equivalent English Language experience.

You can test your level using the Cambridge English Language Assessment or the CEFR’s Self-Assessment Table. B2 Proficiency is roughly equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
