Loans for students from the USA

LAMDA is approved by the US Dept for Education to participate in the US Federal Direct Loan Program. Our Federal School Code is G21086. All full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses lasting a year or more are covered. These are:

If you wish to apply for US Federal Student Aid, please be aware that some important changes have been made to the loans available for students who are starting degree courses with us from 2026-27 onwards.

Changes made to Title IV federal student aid under the Reconciliation Act of 2025 come into effect on 1 July 2026, and mean that:

  • Graduate Plus loans are no longer available for new students at institutions outside the US.

  • Parent Plus loans are limited to a maximum of $20,000 per dependent student per year for new students at institutions outside the US.

  • Existing students (or parents) with Plus loans can continue under the old rules in academic year 26-27 until the student graduates, or until the end of academic year 28-29, whichever is sooner.

For new students, what this means is that Federal Student Aid may not be able to cover the full cost of attending. This web page will be updated shortly with further details. Until that time, please contact the International Admissions Officer Tamara Tooher, who will be happy to answer any questions and advise you on alternative sources of funding.

Students receiving US Federal funding must meet strict attendance and progress requirements, which are explained in this guide to Satisfactory Academic Progress.

You may also apply for funding to student loan company, Sallie Mae. LAMDA is also eligible to receive funding via the US Veterans Administration.

The financial aid information page FinAid provides a free, comprehensive and objective guide to student financial aid in the USA. It includes sections on study abroad and an online database search engine, FastWEB.

Note: the websites and agencies listed are for your information and do not carry any endorsement from LAMDA.

US applicants for the MA Classical Acting for the Professional Theatre may be eligible to apply for the Fulbright-John Wood LAMDA Award to cover tuition fees and help with maintenance costs.

There is no funding available if you're training on a short course.
